Course Discription

FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) NEWCASTLE The County Hotel, Neville Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 5DF Course Summary Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a first-aider in the workplace. This First aid at Work course includes the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to an extensive range of specific injuries and illnesses. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981 (Appendix 5 Content of a First Aid at Work (FAW) course). Course Structure: Unit 1: Emergency First aid in the Workplace Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace Course Contents A range of subjects are covered including: • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting • Resuscitation and AED awareness • Assessment of the situation • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Bandaging • Shock (including Anaphylaxis) • Fractures and spinal injuries • Heart attacks • Choking • Control of bleeding • Head injuries • Eye injuries • Poisoning • Chest injuries • Sprains and strains • Burns • Asthma • Diabetes • Epilepsy • Stroke Certification Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment for unit 2. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. Learners who achieve this qualification may progress on to other related qualifications within first aid. FAA also offer qualifications in health & safety, food safety and safeguarding should learners wish to diversify. Duration A minimum of 18 hours spread over at least three days. Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire providing it is completed within 10 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of two hours. Cancellation Policy

Transfers of Dates Should circumstances mean that you need to transfer course dates the following charges will apply, dependent on the notice given: • First transfer, made more than four weeks prior to the course start date - no charge • Two to four weeks notice given - 25% of the course fee • Less than two weeks notice given - 50% of the course fee All transfers must be within a period of six months. Cancellations Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your course and are unable to transfer to another date at the time of cancellation, the following charges will apply: • More than four weeks prior to the course start date - no charge • Two to four weeks prior to the course - 50% of the course fee • Less than two weeks prior to the course - full fee Cancellation must be made in writing by post, fax or email and received by the due date.
