WEEKEND SALM - Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medications - Level 3 DARLINGTON 10 Evolution Business Park, Barrington Way, Darlington, DL1 4FA Course Summary The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in the Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed for prehospital care providers who have a specific responsibility at work to safely administer and monitor the effects of medication, following completion of FREC4 qualification. Candidates will learn about the common types of lifesaving medication and their potential side effects. They will also learn how to determine a patient’s condition and how to assess, monitor and review the effects of medication once it has been administered. Successful candidates will leave the course equipped with all of the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to administer lifesaving medication safely and effectively in a prehospital environment. Course Contents A range of subjects are covered including: Legislation, guidelines, policies and protocols Administering lifesaving medication Common types of lifesaving medication, including: Their effects and potential side effects Physiological measurements before an after administering lifesaving medication Different drug routes for the administration of lifesaving medication Determining a patient’s condition to help distinguish the correct lifesaving medication Demonstrating the safe and effective administration of lifesaving medication in a prehospital environment Assessing, monitoring and reviewing the effects of lifesaving medication Certification Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with written assessments. A Qualsafe Level 3 Award in the Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. Learners who achieve this qualification may progress on to other related qualifications within pre-hospital care. Qualsafe also offer qualifications in health & safety, food safety and safeguarding should learners wish to diversify. Further Information Duration: two-days (14hrs+16hrs self-study) Group size: 6 Candidates per 1 Trainer/Assessor Assessment method: Activities, test paper, practical assessments and workbooks Pre-requisite: First Response Emergency Care Level 4 Suggested progression: Level 5 First Response Emergency Care and Urgent Care.

Cancellation Policy
Transfers of Dates Should circumstances mean that you need to transfer course dates the following charges will apply, dependent on the notice given: • First transfer, made more than four weeks prior to the course start date - no charge • Two to four weeks notice given - 25% of the course fee • Less than two weeks notice given - 50% of the course fee All transfers must be within a period of six months. Cancellations Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your course and are unable to transfer to another date at the time of cancellation, the following charges will apply: • More than four weeks prior to the course start date - no charge • Two to four weeks prior to the course - 50% of the course fee • Less than two weeks prior to the course - full fee Cancellation must be made in writing by post, fax or email and received by the due date.
