Course Summary
Anti ligature
The Anti-Ligature Awareness course is designed to provide essential training for individuals working in environments where the risk of self-harm or suicide is present, such as healthcare settings, correctional facilities, and mental health institutions. This course focuses on identifying ligature risks, understanding the psychology of self-harm, and implementing preventative strategies to create safer environments. Participants will learn how to recognize potential hazards, use anti-ligature products, and respond appropriately to at-risk individuals, helping to reduce the likelihood of self-injury or fatality. Course Objectives: Understand the concept of ligature points and their risks Recognize common ligature hazards in various environments Learn to implement anti-ligature design features and products Develop effective communication and intervention strategies for at-risk individuals Understand the psychological factors contributing to self-harm behaviors Respond appropriately during high-risk situations to prevent injury or loss of life By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage and mitigate ligature risks in their care environments.

Assessment
The instructor conducts a single written assessments at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a three-year Level 3 Award in Principles of Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People or Vulnerable Adults (Level 6 in Scotland). No external assessors are required for this qualification.
Duration
The course requires a minimum of 7 hours, distributed over the day. While it is ideal to complete the course in one day, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 3 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least two hours.

Certification Validity
This qualification has no formal expiry, however regular CPD and updates are recommended.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to qualify.
