Course Summary
FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
Candidates successfully completing this course will be entitled to act as a first-aider in the workplace. This First aid at Work course includes the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to an extensive range of specific injuries and illnesses. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981 (Appendix 5 Content of a First Aid at Work (FAW) course).

Course Contents
A range of subjects are covered including:
Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
Resuscitation and AED awareness
Assessment of the situation
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Bandaging
Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
Fractures and spinal injuries
Heart attacks
Choking
Control of bleeding
Head injuries
Eye injuries
Poisoning
Chest injuries
Sprains and strains

Assessment
The instructor conducts ongoing summative practical assessments and written assessments each day. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a three-year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland). No external assessors are required for this qualification.
Duration
The course requires a minimum of 18 hours, distributed over at least three days. While it is ideal to complete the course over three consecutive days, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 10 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least two hours.
Certification Validity
This qualification is valid for three years. To renew it, learners must complete the FAW Re-Qual course. However, it is recommended that learners attend annual refresher courses during the three-year period.
Further Information - Course Numbers
The course allows a maximum of 12 students, all of whom must be at least 14 years old. Certificates can be issued to all students who meet the assessment criteria. However, students cannot take on workplace responsibilities until they reach the age of 16, at which point it is the employer's responsibility to confirm their suitability for the role. The certificate will expire on the date specified, regardless of the student’s age.
