Train Direct Announces Change of Ownership as Founder Returns to Academic Research

Train Direct has announced a change in ownership and leadership, with founder Christopher Heayns stepping away from the business to return to full-time academic research.

Christopher founded and developed Train Direct over the past six years, during which time the organisation has grown into a national training provider delivering a wide range of health, social care, first aid and workplace training programmes.

Christopher will now return to his PhD studies and focus on his academic research and wider professional interests. Speaking about the decision, Christopher said:

“Train Direct has been an enormous part of my life over the past six years and I am incredibly proud of what we have built. We have developed an exceptional team, worked with organisations across the country and helped thousands of people develop new skills.

“The opportunity to return to my academic research is something I have wanted to pursue for some time. I know I am leaving Train Direct in extremely capable hands and I look forward to seeing the company continue to grow.”

Ownership of Train Direct has transferred to Peter Heayns, who will take responsibility for the strategic and day-to-day management of the organisation.

Peter brings a wealth of experience in education and will work alongside Train Direct’s existing management, administration and training team to ensure continuity for clients and learners.

Peter said:

“Christopher has worked incredibly hard to build Train Direct into the organisation it is today and I am extremely proud of what he has achieved.

“My priority is to build upon those foundations. We have an experienced team, an excellent network of trainers and a strong programme of courses planned across the UK. For our clients, trainers and learners, it is very much business as usual.”

Train Direct currently employs a team of full-time trainers and works with a substantial national network of instructors and specialist co-trainers.

The company will continue to focus on expanding its training provision while maintaining the professional standards and quality of delivery upon which it has built its reputation.

Christopher will also continue his charitable, voluntary and community activities alongside his academic research.
